Terms of Device Access

We are operating with the bare minimum of resources in a volunteer capacity. What we can provide reflects that.

While mobile phones and other cellular devices are particularly valuable to someone in periods of instability or disruption, they also pose unique challenges when it comes to stocking them. We haven't worked out a good way to do them yet.

What we don't do

We do not stock up-to-date anything. What you are getting is older equipment which is no longer commercially supported.

We cannot promise a particular model of anything. You are getting a lucky dip from what's in stock.

If the device does not have a license for a suitable OS on it, you will have to solve that problem yourself.

We do not provide any form of maintenance or technical support for hardware or software. We cannot recommend anyone.

Not to put too fine a point on it: we are giving you the hardware as-is. Once it's in your hands, it's yours and yours alone.

Risks

Devices are second-hand and may show signs of wear, cosmetic damage, or age-related degradation.

While we take reasonable care when handling and distributing equipment (including testing and tagging power supplies where practicable), we cannot guarantee safety, reliability, or continued operation.

Devices may fail, malfunction, or be unsuitable for critical or time-sensitive use.

Your use of any device is entirely at your own risk.

No warranties, express or implied, are given regarding fitness for purpose, safety, or performance.

Limitations

We can't give you what we don't have.

We reserve the right to refuse service at our discretion.

We are, in short, doing this because we know firsthand that "better than nothing" can make a big difference.

If you are looking to save some cash or get a shiny new toy, look elsewhere.

Seeing as this is effectively work for nothing, one day we're probably going to burn out and not be able to continue. There are humans making this happen, and reminding us we made a difference will help it keep happening.

One last request: when things are better for you, pay it forward. Doesn't have to be to us. Help someone in your turn.
